Official and up-to-date information on veterinary medicinal products
The database contains information on authorised veterinary medicinal products, registered homeopathic veterinary medicinal products and veterinary medicinal products that authorisation holders distribute by wholesale from one EU/EEA Member State to another.
The Union Product Database (UPD) was established as a legal requirement under Article 55 of Regulation (EU) 2019/6. The database is set up by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and maintained in cooperation with the Member States.
The UPD contains data on veterinary medicinal products authorised in the European Union. Different levels of access are granted to national competent authorities, marketing authorisation holders and the public, in line with the data access rules.
Centrally authorised veterinary medicinal products
Veterinary medicinal products authorised by the European Commission
Veterinary medicinal products authorised by the European Commission on the basis of a scientific assessment by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are subject to the centralised authorisation procedure.
This procedure grants a marketing authorisation that is valid in all Member States of the European Union.
